Dalam perjalanan pulang dari business trip ke Medan… sesaat setelah melewati mesin X-Ray di bandara Polonia… iseng saya bertanya kepada petugas penjaga mesin… Pak… isinya laptop saya apa aja ya…?

Jawabanya sang petugas sungguh diplomatis…

“ada kabelnya…”

Memang beda kalo selama business trip menginap di rumah mertua… apalagi soal makanan yang di sajikan…
hmmm… khas banget!

Pernahkah anda naik pesawat dan penasaran sedang berada dimana??? kecepatannya berapa??? ketingannya berapa??? Saya sering merasa begitu…

Beruntung saya menggunakan PDAPhone HP6965, device ini memiliki built in GPS… Agak lemot sih… Tapi itulah harga yang harus saya tebus jika ingin punya all-in-one device seperti ini… Peta yang saya install antara lain Raster Image dari Peta Gunther Jakarta di OziExplorer dan Peta Jawa GarminQue hasil keroyokan di Navigasi.net…

Hari ini ada business trip ke Surabaya, menggunakan pesawat Garuda Airways… Kebetulan saya mendapat tukaran window seat dengan anak kecil bernama Anissa… Saat pesawat mulai berjalan GPS langsung saya nyalakan, dengan posisi phone tetap pada flight mode… Teoritis hal ini tidak menggangu navigasi pesawat… dan yang sebenarnya dilarang selama penerbangan adalah peralatan yang memancarkan sinyal… Sementara GPS hanya menerima sinyal tanpa ada proses pengiriman… Lha wong pesawatnya juga pakai GPS untuk navigasi koq…

On the way to Bintan from Jakarta one must land in Batam Island…. An Island I once stayed for 2 years in… On the way home to Jakarta, I stayed over to finish some business on this Island also a little bit of nostalgia….

During this trip I stayed over at the Goodway hotel… I have never heard the name of the hotel… but it is a very familiar site…. turned out that it was once the Mandarin Hotel… now that name rang a bell…

At the airport on the way home we met Lawrence from the Netherlands… who is cycling all the way to Sydney from Istanbul… good luck!

Finally home sweet home…. Bagus loves the oleh-oleh…

This week we had a chance to stay at the Bintan Lagoon Resort to review 2007’s performance and discussing Qdc’s strategy moving forward….

To get to the resort from Jakarta we had to travel 1 hour by air to Batam… Then a 45 minute Bus ride to the seaport, 1 hour travel by sea and finally another 30 minutes by Bus to the resort where we were greeted by a Traditional Melayu Dance…. all together it took more than half a day, having numerous waiting time in between…

The travel was worth what we got at the resort….

Then during the first session…. the prize specialist struck again…. this time I got a Nokia CDMA mobile phone

Bagus will be happy with this oleh-oleh….

To be honest…. I’m not so pleased having to pay sing dollars for everything in the resort… the same currency even applies in the oleh-oleh market…

Hey this is our country!!!

Also Internet should be a compliment rather than a service we have to pay 35 Sing Dollars for….

Oleh2 dari jalan2 ke Pekanbaru… senang banget ada pekerjaan dimana saya bisa mengajak Bagus, Mamanya dan Sekar jalan ke Pekanbaru sekalian ketemu sama keluarga besar di sana…

The nice thing about this hotel is that it has free wifi, provided by Indonet Salatiga, only it seems as if IIX and International links are dropped off frequently…

My observation suggests that the Wireless links over the 2,4GHz frequency is very dense and either tends to interfere with one another or someone is pushing a booster over there link…
